Private Alexander Lessons
What happens in a lesson?
In your Alexander lesson, you will learn to observe how you perform everyday activities from a new perspective. How you sit, stand, or walk, for example, or how you function in more specific activity such as playing your instrument, or in your sport, or how you breathe and speak.
Working with gentle touch and vocal instruction, Helene guides her students though a journey of self discovery, an inquiry towards new possibilities.
Exploring the symbiotic relationship of mind and body function as one entity, each informing the other as you go about your day.
How you perform in any activity can either bring you ease, or can create unnecessary tension throughout your whole system, which is a major cause of restricted or difficult movement, fatigue and pain.
You will become increasingly aware of your own habitual, automatic ways of executing these activities, and discover how to stop or inhibit these habits before they kick in.
You will deepen your knowledge and understanding of functional anatomy, proprioception, and spatial awareness.
Finding yourself present, vital, and available, your breathing settles, you experience being grounded and expanded, the quality of your voice improves, and your central nervous system quietens.
Over a course of lessons, you will discover a new ease in moving, thinking and acting, and your performance in everything you do naturally improves.
